SIWES is a lot. Get it together.
From your logbook to your final defense, ExcelMindIT helps you turn your industrial training into work you’re ready to present.
The workload
Your industrial training is done.
Now comes the documentation.
- Logbook entriesEvery day of the placement, written up and signed.
- Report chaptersFive chapters, structured and formatted.
- Presentation slidesThe deck you present, and defend your work with.
- Defense preparationAnswers ready for the questions the panel will ask.
That’s a lot to pull together, and it’s all due at once.
Your work is scattered.
Your report still needs structure.
Your slides have to hold up in front of a panel.
And you still have to prepare for the defense.
What if all that work could come together?

CHAPTER THREEWORK EXPERIENCE
3.1 Work experience
During the placement I worked with the data analytics team on customer records for two microfinance clients. My first task was to profile the weekly export and report on missing and duplicated fields.
I wrote SQL that matched records on BVN and phone number. Records that matched on both were merged. Records that matched on one were listed for my supervisor to review each Friday.
The work reduced duplicate records by 34% and gave the team a repeatable process for each new export.
Speaker notes
Introduce yourself, the company and the department. Say how long the placement ran.
Defense prep
Don’t just make the slides. Practise the defense.
An examiner reads your deck, asks about your work, listens to your answer and follows up. Then you see how every answer landed. Keep scrolling for a sample session.
You said you reduced duplicates by 34%. How did you verify that number?
Follow-upYou matched on BVN and phone number. Family members often share a phone. How did you avoid merging two different people?
I counted the duplicate customer records before cleaning, about 18,400, by matching on BVN and phone number. After the deduplication script it dropped to around 12,100. That is the 34 percent in the report.

Getting there.
You know your work. What lets you down is detail: some answers stop early, so the panel has to pull the rest out of you.

Your first top-up comes with bonus credits on top of what you pay for.
If something fails on our side, the credits for it go back to your wallet automatically.
It is written from your own logbook, and every chapter is yours to change. Edit it by hand, or use the wand: describe the change you want in your own words and the chapter is rewritten.
Your deck is built from your report, with speaker notes on every slide. Pick one of four templates; switching restyles the whole deck and leaves your words alone. You review every slide before you present it.
Choose how hard the examiner should be (Supportive, Realistic or Tough) and how long the session runs (5, 8 or 12 questions). The examiner asks about your own deck and follows up on your answers, and you get feedback on each one at the end. You answer out loud, so the app asks for your microphone when you start a session.
